Chef Manager Raul Mizquiri
Chef Raul has been at Birch Wathen Lenox School for 20 fantastic years. Prior to this position, he was a professional chef at the Cleaver Company and Food in Motion.
Raul's dedication to scratch cooking started while he was in high school and he began working with Mary Cleaver. He is passionate about investigating where each ingredient comes from and it is this insatiable curiosity that helps to shape the way he creates meals, both at Birch Wathen Lenox and at home.
One of the reasons Raul enjoys Birch Wathen Lenox School so much is because he can see and influence the positive reactions of faculty, staff, and students when they sample new foods, all made with care from scratch.
Raul's specialty is Spanish food, though he also loves Thai food. At home, he enjoys grilling fresh meat and vegetables. In his spare time, Raul enjoys fishing and going to the park with his three children. He lives with his wife and family in East Elmhurst, Queens.
